Turmeric or Curcuma has taken the health food industry by storm in the recent years and with good reason. The little colorful root is packed with antioxidants and has anti inflammatory properties and extracts of it are features in supplements that promise to help a variety of ailments from arthritis to liver disease, boost brain function and the immune system. In Ayurvedic medicine Golden Milk made with turmeric was used to treat anything from the common cold to bruises and skin problems making this spice a favourite of mine when it comes to keeping my skin healthy.
Today’s recipe features this amazing ingredient via Botanica‘s new Turmeric Golden Mylk, a blend of turmeric, spices, black pepper and ashwagandha. The black pepper helps with the absorption of turmeric and complements its anti inflammatory properties and the ashwagandha is a fantastic adaptogen. The drink is sweetened with dates and the cardamom and cinnamon makes this the ultimate comfort drink for fall. I added a scoop of collagen to my drink for extra protein and for its skin, hair and nail nourishing properties and used coconut milk to give it that smooth, frothy texture and healthy skin nourishing fats.
