Burberry Kisses Lipstick in No. 93 Russet Review and Swatches
When I first held this lipstick in my hand I had to remind myself to breathe. There are certain things in life that can truly take my breath away and a beautiful piece of makeup is one of them.
The packaging has an elegant nickel finish and square shape with a magnetic closure. It looks luxurious but it’s surprisingly lightweight. The lipstick has the iconic Burberry check engraved on the sides and a sharp slanted tip.
Russet was the shade I got, a brownish red with a glossy finish to it. The formula has medium pigmentation and feels very hydrating on the lips. It’s not an opaque lipstick but rather a comfortable formula that can be build up and makes lips look soft, healthy and plump. Given the formula the lipstick doesn’t have great longevity. It wore off quite fast with eating and drinking but managed to stay put and not bleed during the rest of the day.
This lipstick took me by surprise. I would have liked the packaging to have had some weight to it to give it that luxe feel. I loved the presentation of the whole product. The formula is sheer, moisturizing and lightweight which is quite the change from the trends we see nowadays with liquid and matte lipsticks, which took some adjustment for me. The more I wore it the more I started to appreciate the weightlessness and comfort of the lipstick. It looks sophisticated but quite muted on the lips and I am slowly rediscovering that natural lipstick look that makes me think of a more mature woman, that uses makeup to enhance beauty rather than to make a statement.
