Avon Extra Lasting Eyeliners: Review and Swatches
These eyeliners were sent to me by Avon, and boy did they throw me back. I haven’t used felt tip applicator eyeliners in years and I had almost forgotten how much I enjoy them and how easy they are to manipulate.
The Extra Lasting Eyeliners come in four colours, three of which I have to share with you today: Black, Dark Brown and Deep Violet. The colour descriptions are quite accurate Black being black, Dark Brown being a deep rich brown and Deep Violet an eggplant darkened purple.
Like I mentioned above the eyeliners are quite traditional, in the sense that they do come in a cone shaped tube and have a felt tip applicator. It kind of reminds me of Annabelle’s glitter eyeliners.
Felt tip applicators are a girl’s best friend, IMO. They are just simply to use, easy to control, deposit exactly how much colour where you want it and how you like it. Not to mention, achieving a cat eye is a breeze even for the more inexperienced in make-up. What I am trying to say is that I love the applicator. The formula, well, that’s a different story. Throwback time again! The formula seemed a bit old fashioned to me and reminded me of the eyeliners I first used back in high school. It feel wet and somewhat sticky and it takes a while to dry. It looks shiny and glossy and pretty, but it can go on patchy here and there and if you do attempt more than three layers of colour, well, that’s where problems begin. It starts “crumpling”, for a lack of a better word. The layers underneath crack and tiny patches of eyeliner might start to come off. I do experience this even with higher end brands, so I somewhat expected it.I suppose the best way to use this eyeliner is to keep it simple, no layering, no smudging back and forth. The pigmentation is decent so you can get a bit of drama out of it without putting in too much thought or effort.
The eyeliners are part of their new Extra Lasting line, and I have to say they held up decently during the scorching, humid summer days we’ve been having here in Montreal this past weeks.
Bottom line, these are standard eyeliners. Staples in any beauty collection in a way but not something I can see experienced beauty lovers reaching for over and over again. It’s a great eyeliner for beginners and easy to use on a day to day basis when you are in a hurry and don’t have time to be precise but not spectacular enough to have me look forward to applying it every morning. Does it make sense?
